Ferguson Unsure Whether Nemanja Vidic Will Stay At Manchester United
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has dropped a hint that centre-back Nemanja Vidic could possibly leave Old Trafford during the current transfer window.
Speculation about the Serb's future continued for much of last season and has not dissipated over the summer, as reports continue to link Vidic with a possible move to Real Madrid.
There have also been reports claiming that the player was unhappy about not having been awarded a pay rise this summer.
When asked by reporters if he could offer any explanation of the situation after United's pre-season friendly win over Philadelphia Union, Ferguson replied: "I can't clarify it at all."
When subsequently asked if he expected Vidic to be a United player next season he would only add: "I believe so."
Reports have claimed in the past that Vidic's wife was unhappy in Manchester and wanted to move somewhere warmer.
Reports in the Manchester Evening News have claimed that the player's representatives have been ordered not to make any comment on the matter.
Ahead of the World Cup, Vidic's agent had insisted that any move was down to Vidic himself and would only be concluded once the tournament in South Africa was over.
