Love him or hate him, Cristiano Ronaldo certainly knows how to keep himself in the full glare of the media.

It's been a trying week for the Real Madrid star as he holidayed in New York following his poor World Cup, after news broke that he'd fathered a secret child and news and pictures also broke of C-Ron's latest love interest, Irina Shayk.


With so much tabloid interest in the latest Ronaldo developments, one British journalist got a little too close to the world's most expensive footballer as the pair got into a war of words which was captured on film.

Badgering Ronaldo over whether he'd "come forward and release the mother's name" of his child, soon Ronaldo snapped back as he was waiting to catch a lift. The 25-year-old fired back "Someday, someone's gonna kill you! Be careful."

The hack was quick to respond though, countering with the line "Someone's probably gonna break your legs in a nasty tackle! Could be Rooney. You never know!"

'Devastated' Portugal Captain Cristiano Ronaldo Explains 'Innocent' Comments About Carlos Queiroz

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has explained his post-match criticism of coach Carlos Queiroz, after Spain dumped his side out of the World Cup in the final round of 16 tie in Cape Town.

The Real Madrid star has insisted that his comments after the defeat were misconstrued and insisted that there is nothing more to it.

"When I said to ask the coach it was simply because Carlos Queiroz was at a press conference and journalists could hear his explanations and because I did not feel in the right condition to explain what happened," he is quoted as saying by Marca before adding that he is devastated by Portugal's exit from the tournament.


"I never thought that these simple and innocent words could cause so much controversy. So I ask you not to look for ghosts where none exist. There is no case whatsoever.

"I am suffering and I have the right to suffer alone. I am devastated, completely devastated, frustrated and with unimaginable sadness."

Cristiano Ronaldo gets engaged to Irina Shayk

Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his beloved Russian-born model Irina Shayk. Shayk has already received her parents’ blessing.

Shayk revealed the information about the engagement in an interview to Portuguese tabloid Lux that was published with a photograph of the smiling couple on the cover with the caption “I’m a bride!”

Observers of the Portuguese newspaper Correio de Manha have learned that Ronaldo struggled for the heart of the Tatar green-eyed brunette. Twenty-four-year-old Irina Shayk, known for her career as a lingerie model with Victoria's Secret and Intimissimi, was chased by the Portuguese half-back of Spanish Real Madrid for over four months. The girl persistently refused to give out her cell phone number, but eventually succumbed to his charms.


“He had to beat around the bush for a long time, which is generally a rarity for him”, says the footballer’s ex, 27-year-old model Rute Penedo. “If there was no struggle, Ronaldo would not be as enthusiastic about this girl.”

In the past, Cristiano Ronaldo has had relationships with Americans Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian, and Spain’s Nereida Gallardo.

At the moment the groom is occupied with the World Cup in South Africa where he recently scored a goal in the match against North Korea.

The relationship was made public in May this year when the couple was noticed together on vacation in Corsica.

Irina Shayk (Irina Shaikhlislamova) was born in the city of Yemanzhelinsk in the Chelyabinsk region. In 2005 she moved to Paris. She has worked with Armani, Guess, Lacoste, La Perla. Before her acquaintance to Ronaldo she was in a relationship with Linkin Park rock band drummer Rob Bourdon.
