Serbia beats Cameroon 4-3 in World Cup warmup‎

World Cup hopefuls Serbia and Cameroon faced off in a tantalizing match ahead of next week's tournament kickoff in South Africa.

Pierre Webo netted early for the visitors, but Milos Krasic leveled in the 16th minute. The Mallorca striker completed his brace before the half hour mark to restore Cameroon's advantage, but that lead did not last long. The Serbs fought back, and Dejan Stankovic struck the equalizer within minutes.

Late in the first half, Nenand Milijas converted a penalty for Serbia, and Marko Pantelic doubled the hosts' advantage on the stroke of halftime. Cameroon had played well, but were stunned to be down by two goals at the interval.

After the break, in form striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting broke free to head in a cross, setting up a nail-biting finish. Cameroon failed to equalise, however, and the hosts took a narrow victory just eight days before the World Cup opener against Ghana. The next day, Cameroon will begin their group stage campaign against Japan.
