England players robbed by hotel staff!!!
Several England players had shirts, a medal and underwear stolen from the luxury hotel that served as their base during the World Cup.
Police in Rustenburg said cleaning staff from the hotel were responsible for the thefts.
Police spokeswoman Junior Metsi said only about £500 in cash was taken, as the thieves were more keen on grabbing souvenirs such as shirts worn during matches.
The thefts were only reported on Saturday, although it's thought they began on June 21.
Metsi said police solved the case in a day after searching the homes of hotel staff.
"Everything that was stolen was recovered and they (the thieves) are now behind bars," she said.
On Sunday, a special World Cup court convicted five hotel workers of the thefts. They were sentenced to three years in prison and fined.
The players who had items stolen were not named.
