Suduva 0-2 Rapid Vienna

Austrian side Rapid Vienna took a major step to the third qualifying round with a comfortable win in Marijampole. Captain Steffen Hoffman gave them a 12th minute lead and they double that advantage nine minutes from time thanks to a Christopher Trimmel effort. The two goal advantage puts them in an excellent position with a home leg still to come.

Maritimo 3-2 Sporting Fingal

Portuguese outfit Maritimo had to rely on a late injury time strike from Brazilian midfielder Tcho to beat plucky League of Ireland side Sporting Fingal. The visitors lead for a large period through a goal from veteran striker Glen Crowe on 33 minutes but Ricardo Esteves pulled the hosts level 12 minutes from time. Abdelmalek Cherrad then netted to put Maritimo in front with five minutes remaining but that lead was short lived as Lorcan Fitzgerald equalised for the Irish side two minutes later. Five minutes into injury time Tcho struck a winner but Maritimo's place in the next round is by no means certain with Sporting Fingal taking two away goals back to Dublin.

KS Besa 0-5 Olympiacos

Greek giants Olympiacos all but booked their place in the next round spanking Albanian side Besa. Spaniard Oscar Gonzalez scored twice in the first half before Brazilian duo Dudu and Diogo netted in the second half to put the tie beyond any doubt. Diogo added his second goal six minutes from the end to complete a comprehensive win for the visitors.

Motherwell 1-0 Breidablik Kopavogur

A Ross Forbes goal shortly after the hour mark at Fir Park was enough to ensure that the Steelmen take a slender lead into the second leg against Icelandic side Breidablik. Craig Brown's men were the better side over the 90 minutes but still have work to do to progress to the next round.

Olimpia Balti 0-2 Dinamo Bucharest

Dinamo Bucharest have taken control of their second round qualifying match but will have to contest the second leg without captain Marius Niculae, who was sent off just before the hour mark. The Romanian side had already lead through Cristian Pulhac and they doubled that lead thanks to substitute Liviu Ganea who scored with virtually his first touch seven minutes from the end. The Moldovan's night went from bad to worse when Alexandru Cheltuiala received his marching orders after he picked up a second yellow two minutes from time.

Besiktas 3-0 Vikingur Gota

A brace from Nihat Kahveci and a last minute goal from his replacement Mert Nobre gave Turkish giants Besiktas a straightforward win over Faroe Island minnows Vikingur. The margin of victory could have been far more comprehensive for Bernd Schuster's men who managed 16 attempts on goal but they were frustrated for large spells by the visitors and had to wait until the 65 minute for their second goal after Kahveci had opened the scoring after 19 minutes.

Brondby 3-0 Vaduz

Danish side Brondby left it late against their visitors from Liechtenstein but virtually guaranteed that they will feature in the final qualifying round thanks to a late brace from Ousman Jallow, who scored twice in five minutes to wrap up a comfortable win after Mikael Nilsson gave them a lead six minutes into the second half.

Utrecht 4-0 Tirana

Three goals in the space of 22 first half minutes gave Eredivisie side Utrecht a commanding lead in their tie against Albanian side Tirana. Ricky van Wolfswinkel gave them an eighth minute lead before Entonio Pashaj turned into his own net to double the Dutch side's advantage. On the half hour mark, Nana Asare added a third and a goal from captain Alje Schut 13 minutes from time completed the rout. Tirana's misery was compounded five minutes from time when goalkeeper Ilion Lika was sent off for a second bookable offence.
