Wolfsburg stay ahead

VfL Wolfsburg maintained their wafer-thin lead of the Bundesliga when they racked up a 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund while Bayern Munich beat Bayer Leverkusen by the same score. With two matches remaining, Wolfsburg and Bayern have 63 points apiece, with Wolfsburg top thanks to a goal difference that is two better.

Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko scored twice for Wolfsburg either side of Grafite's 24th goal of the season, to seal their win.

Hertha Berlin remained in the hunt, a point off the pace on 62, after their 2-1 win away to Cologne with Brazilian Cicero and Patrick Ebert on target.

VfB Stuttgart, in fourth place on 58 points, travel to Schalke 04 on Wednesday.

Wolfsburg had little trouble breaking down the resistance of Dortmund who had a seven-match winning streak going into the game but looked out of sorts.

The hosts grabbed the lead through Dzeko who coolly slotted past keeper Roman Weidenfeller after 15 minutes.

Top scorer Grafite struck two minutes after the break with an easy tap-in before he provided the cross for Dzeko to score his 22nd goal of the season.

Dortmund were reduced to 10 men after 75 minutes when substitute Kevin-Prince Boateng was sent off just nine minutes after coming on for a flying tackle on Makoto Hasebe.

Bayern Munich struggled in the first half, carving out only one real chance through Franck Ribery when he fired wide from the edge of the box.

But the Bavarians were dominant in the second half scoring three times in 24 minutes and missing many more.

Italian striker Luca Toni flicked in a Lukas Podolski pass to give them the lead two minutes after the break.

Ribery then combined with Podolski to double the lead near the hour mark before Podolski got a deserved goal from close range in the 71st.

Bayern have won all three matches under interim coach Jupp Heynckes, who took over from axed Juergen Klinsmann in late April.
