Roque Santa Cruz Nears Blackburn Rovers Exit After Angering Sam Allardyce

The Paraguayan looks like he is about to leave Ewood Park in a big money move in the summer...

Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz has taken a step closer to the exit door at the club by angering Sam Allardyce, according to Sky Sports.

The Paraguayan striker has openly admitted he would like to leave Ewood Park in the summer and move to a bigger club, with Manchester City apparently waiting in the wings.

The 27-year-old has been the subject of much speculation linking him with a move to Eastlands and a reunion with former Rovers boss Mark Hughes, the man who took him to Ewood Park.

And now Allardyce has revealed that he is getting tired of the former Bayern Munich striker's comments.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Allardyce said, "He has become a little bit underhand.

"These kind of remarks always sneak out, where we cannot control the situation. It has happened too many times for it not to be him and is disappointing.

"That is life today but Roque should really concentrate on getting himself fit and playing football for Blackburn, never mind talking about where his future may lie.

"Without his fitness and his capability of producing more than last season, he will perhaps struggle to get the move he is looking for."

The Rovers boss also revealed that the club will sell the striker, if their valuation of the player is met.

"I have always got on with Roque extremely well and explained the situation to him as it lay in January," commented the Blackburn boss.

"If someone meets the value, he is gone. It is that simple.

"It is a shame he has not been fitter because he is a terrific player.

"The fans will always take a dim view of someone who openly says he wants to leave. I understand that, so we will have to wait and see what happens."

The Asuncion-born player has been at Blackburn since his £3.5 million move from Bayern Munich in 2007, and he has since played a total of 57 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals.
