Newcastle United Must Keep Alan Shearer On As Manager

The midfielder believes that the Geordie legend is the only person who can bring stability to the Magpies and ultimately turn their fortunes around...

Kevin Nolan says it is imperative that Alan Shearer remains Newcastle United manager beyond this season if the club are to overcome their recent woes.

Shearer, who took charge of the Magpies on April 1, has maintained that he will leave St. James' Park in the summer whether or not he saves them from their battle against relegation from the Premier League.

However, reports in the British press have claimed that the Toon legend has intimated that he will stay on as boss and Nolan believes that is the only way the club stands a chance of reaching its potential.

"The more he's settled into the job, I think the more and more he wants to keep it now," Nolan told The Daily Telegraph.

"To be honest, I think he's the only one who will get the time and the money to get things right, the way he wants. If Alan does walk away, anyone who takes the job will probably be fighting a losing battle.

"It would be so hard for them. So it's a must now that he does carry on, for the sake of us players as much as anything so we don't have another seven managers in two years or something."
