Spain defender Sergio Ramos suffers injury against Switzerland
Spain defender Sergio Ramos has revealed that he was suffering from a rib injury during his side's 1-0 defeat to Switzerland in their opening Group H World Cup game.
La Furia Roja went down to a lone Gelson Fernandes goal shortly after half-time in Durban, even though they dominated the game for large periods.
Despite perhaps not being tested as much as he might have been defensively, the Real Madrid defender said he was glad to have Jesus Navas helping him on the wing while he was injured.
He also declared that Spain must now forget about the Swiss defeat and focus on their remaining group games.
"I had a pain in the ribs and I could hardly move, I hope it's in the muscle and not the bone. I was fortunate to have the support of Navas, the rib is still feeling a bit sore," he was quoted as saying by Marca.
"The team has given our all on the field. We've lost three important points, but now we have to think about the rest. The reality is that the team that dominated the ball has not gotten the three points."
