Sergio Ramos Uncomfortable With Favorites Tag
Spain defender Sergio Ramos has expressed his unease with the ‘favourites’ label being attached to his side ahead of the World Cup, reminding his team-mates that any repeat of their Euro 2008 success will require a lot of hard work.
"We don't like being favourites,” he told Real Madrid's official website.
“But we do have a great group of players and I believe we can do something important if we work as well as we did in Euro 2008.”
The 24-year-old defender went on to reveal who his favourites for the tournament are and stated that he is hoping for a final berth for la Furia Roja.
"Some team always pulls of a surprise performance,” he said. “The clear favourites are Italy, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands... We prefer to regard those teams as the true favourites.”
“The quality of players in the World Cup is amazing and I'm sure this edition of the tournament will be beautiful. I'd settle with reaching the final.”
