Ricardo Carvalho Set To Leave Chelsea After 'Worst Year' Of His Life

Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho seems likely to be leaving the club soon, after he asserted today that the past season at Stamford Bridge has been one of the worst years of his life.

An injury-plagued campaign saw the centre-back, a first-team regular for the majority of his spell with the club, make only 18 appearances, and he now seems set to end his 'nightmare' by making a fresh start elsewhere.

"First they have to reach an agreement with the club and then talk to me, but I am available for whoever wants me the most," The Guardian reports the player, currently away on international duty with Portugal, as saying.

"It has been the worst year of my life, with injury after injury. I want to be where I feel good.

"It's obvious that it's hard now to respond to these questions because I had four fantastic years at Chelsea and this last year hasn't been good at all."

The 31-year-old joined the west London outfit in 2004 from Porto, for a reported fee of around £20 million. He has made 174 appearances for the Blues, but now looks set to leave with the team on the cusp of a new era with the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as coach.
