Tevez final insult
CARLOS TEVEZ will be a sub for the Champions League final in Rome — signalling his exit from Manchester United.
He will be joined on the bench by Dimitar Berbatov for the game against Barcelona as Alex Ferguson sticks with the strikers who tore apart Arsenal in the semi-final.
Tevez will see it as the final insult, proving that he must leave to get regular first-team football.
Even if United come up with the deal needed to make his loan move permanent, Tevez is now convinced he has to quit Old Trafford.
And despite interest from Spurs and Real Madrid, the Argentina striker has his sights set on United's rivals and neighbours Liverpool.
Boss Ferguson is preparing to stick with the team that destroyed the Gunners in the semi-final second leg.
There will be one exception for Wednesday's final as Ryan Giggs replaces the banned Darren Fletcher.
That is great news for Park Ji Sung who will get a starting place after being left out of the squad for last year's final win over Chelsea.
PFA player of the year Giggs gets a starting spot after being named on the bench in Moscow a year ago.
Fergie will go with Cristiano Ronaldo as an out-and-out striker with Wayne Rooney on his left and the industrious Park to the right.
Michael Carrick, Anderson and Giggs make up the midfield three.
Anderson has come to the fore in Europe after Ferguson chose him for the away leg against Porto in the quarter-final and both Arsenal ties.
The defence picks itself with John O'Shea at right-back, Rio Ferdinand partnering Nemanja Vidic in the middle and Patrice Evra on the left. Edwin van der Sar will, of course, be in goal for the defending champions.
Ferguson sees this line-up as a major threat on the break against the flair of Spanish champions Barcelona.
Injured pair Wes Brown and Owen Hargreaves were both part of the victory against Chelsea.
Ferguson will use Tevez or Berbatov as impact players in the second half if tired legs takeover.
Key man Ronaldo has insisted once again that he will remain at Old Trafford next season.
The Portuguese ace's future is under the spotlight and, like last summer, Real Madrid have been linked with the world player of the year.
Ronaldo said: "At the moment I'm only thinking about the final.
"I only care about what will happen then and next season at United."
Ronaldo says the final should not be billed as a personal duel between himself and Barca star Lionel Messi.
He added: "It's a battle of teams. Without my team I won't win and neither will Messi without his.
"It's clear that we are the two best teams in Europe. It will be the match every fan dreamed about."
