Spurs captain Ledley King arrested after alleged nightclub incident

Tottenham and England defender Ledley King has been arrested outside a nightclub over an alleged assault, according to reports. The 28-year-old captain was questioned after the alleged incident in Soho, central London, it is understood.

A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said that a 28-year-old man was arrested when a routine police patrol was flagged down and an allegation of assault made by a man in his 20s.

The Spurs captain, who has 19 international caps, had earlier played in his team's 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.

A club statement released by Tottenham read: "The club is aware of an incident involving Ledley King in the early hours of Sunday morning. We await details and information and it would be inappropriate to make any further comment at this time."
